"The Acolyte Conundrum"

Who will light the candles? Who will keep the holocrons in order and make sure that the sacrifice stops whining . . ? Wait, what?!

A memo came across my desk this week, and it got me wondering. In the interest of confidentiality, I won't mention specific names, but in their report, they requested more of a specific linen that they couldn't obtain from their own planet, that was required for the robes for their acolytes.

Now, in inself, this is not an unusual request, although usually a planet would aquire such things on their own. No, it occurred to me that not many of our factions HAVE Acolytes. I wasn't entirely sure of my facts, so I contacted the Archivists at the Holocron Hall and requested information.

For those who are wondering, 'an Acolyte' is someone who assists or follows deeply, especially in a reigious capacity, though not always. It is a ceremonious role.

As far as I could recall, in our galaxy, only the Siths used the role of Acolyte in their ceremonies. As it turned out, the research informed me that there was also the title of Dark Acolyte, A blessedly rare role held by only a very few Siths over time.

They even had a cult of Acolytes, the Acolytes of the Beyond! But I was mistaken in that it was ONLY a Sith thing.

There was the infamous Cartel, the Invisible Acolytes, of Cloud City. (also known as the Forbidden Acolytes) Who weilded much power and influence for a time. I began to wonder if they had disappeared or simply had been lying low for a time. Were they still around and if so - would they begin to cause trouble once more? Was this something for me to pay attention to?

I suppose that across many planets, there may be small pockets of religions or ceremonies that had an acolyte or two, as well.

Of course, as I was finishing my notes, Dr8ke, my helpful droid, made the 'helpful' suggestion that we could incorporate the thoughts from the last article and have a united 'StarWars Acolyte' or even make a representative 'StarWars, The Acolyte' which caused me to yell that we were NOT calling our Galaxy that name and he KNEW I disliked it immensely!

Usually, D8ke is much more attuned to my preferences and less inclined to humor or mischief in this way. I shall have to see if Emperor Arrikzane has had one of his staff tamper with my Droid's personality chip. He never has before, but it seems like the sort of thing that he just might do. The Emperor may appear very cold at times, but he DOES have a sense of humor, just a particular one.

In any case, I asked Dr8ke to return to his job of sorting through the mail and getting rid of all that was advertisements and reduntant holos and to kindly keep his opinions to himself, unless asked for them! He complied, but I could swear I heard him chuckle.

After that, my thoughts were scattered.

Do YOU suppose that I have valid Concerns regarding that Cartel? Or am I making something out of nothing?
