Blog No.17 As of late, I have been finding myself considerably intrigued with history. Perhaps it had to do with the threat of our own history being stolen a while back. My latest fascination within the grand history of our galaxy is none other than Bo Katan, a rather influential character from the planet of Mandalore.
Although Bo Katan has certainly done a variety of deeds certainly worth discussing at some point, I took notice of something a little different that she was involved in: the Nite Owls. For those (like me) who need a little brush up on the history of things, the Nite Owls were a group of Mandalorians led by Bo Katan herself!
Now that you and I have a general idea of what the Nite Owls are, I can give you a little breakdown of what really piqued my interest. Starting off strong, I couldn’t help but wonder what the significance of the title meant. Throughout my research, I couldn’t find any information regarding the true founder of the group, which led me to wonder if Bo Katan was the official founder. Naturally, I had to wonder if she was the one who first came up with the name.
I tried to look at it in the most logical way possible. Although spelled differently, there is a thing such as a night owl. Does this imply that Bo Katan preferred night over day? Or is it because owls seem to prefer the cover of darkness? Was Bo Katan a secret owl master that no one knew about? If so, I’m very much intrigued by this new set of information.
From what I can gather regarding Mandalorians as well as the Nite owls, they seemed to work well in almost any environment. If they seem to fare better under the cover of night, perhaps it is something one should take into account before challenging a Mandalorian! You know, from the whispers I’ve heard from my travels, Bo Katan was quite the fighter and naturally, I assume that the Nite Owls and Mandalorians in general are alike in that department! So perhaps that is where Bo Katan originated the title for her elite group of warriors!
Unless she had a fascination with owls! Perhaps dedicating the name of her team to her favorite creature was a sign of honor! Although we mostly think of Bo Katan being a headstrong leader for her group of warriors, there is a real possibility that she could have had a side hobby of researching or caring for owls! Unfortunately, we might never know! All the records I could find mentioned nothing regarding her favorite animal or hobbies.
I am curious though, what are your opinions regarding this topic of Bo Katan and owls? If you could name a group of elite warriors, would you name it after your favorite creature? What would your group be? For me… it would always involve beetles… how does a group of warrior beetles sound… never mind me! What are you thoughts on all of this?
