Have you ever seen a sculpture or work of art that took your breath away?
I was sent an invitation recently to a planet in the Outer Rim that was having an intergalctic art show in order to draw more people to their planet. It was a very good idea, I thought, and one that not many people seem to be doing. Art. They asked craftsmen from all over to come and bring their wares at an open market.
I went and saw some of the most astoundingly beautiful items! Porg Cozies, hand knitted, of course, and hand worked Lightsaber carriers and some really impressive jewelry.
But one thing really struck me and I wish to share it with you all. It was a series of scenes, made entirely out of Kyber Crystal! 'Star Wars' was the title of one of them, and it was - despite that title - spectacular!
This kyber crystal Star Wars scene was so sharp and explosive, yet sparkling and shiny. How anyone can carve sculpture out of kyber crystal! Star Wars themed yet! Some that were particularly sharp and spiky, were left as is - or so I suppose - and looked like explosions and blaster rays!
Others were chips or splinters from the crystals and so smooth and sharp.
Light was placed behind the pieces, so that it shone out and made the colors fairly glow, as if lit on fire or pulsing with their own kyber power. (It looked especially good for the light saber portions, for obvious reasons)
There were scenes of legendary historical figures battling, of ewoks fighting ATATs and explosions of planets.
Part of me was rather taken aback and (honestly) a little appalled that they used such a rare and valuable resource as a piece of art, but the kyber crystal 'Star Wars' scene is so - achingly beautiful. It speaks of the loss and the heartbreak and the destructive force in the battle betwen the Dark and the Light sides of the Force - while also looking so pretty!
I was immensely impressed with the artist and ended up buying a piece. Not the Kyber Crystal -'Star Wars' piece, but another one, fusing the seals of the factions into one. It is moving in its own way and will perfect in my office.
(though I was tempted by a piece called 'Porgs in Paradise' and another that was 'Naboo to You!' - lots of blues and greens in that one.)
There was a warning label, too, though, that apparently all the sculptures are very sharp and one can injure oneself if not careful.
If you get a chance, I highly recommend that you see this art exhibit - perhaps bring your own wares if you have any and share with each other. My Droid, Dr8ke, will be happy to get you the contact info. And if the kyber crystals 'Star Wars' piece is still there - be sure to view it and let me know what you think!
(And try their funnel cake - it's out of this world!)
