When you have a crisis, you sometimes have to turn to those you would not ordinarily think of - even though it often means that you have to endure a bit of rudeness.

As I went about my regular travels through the Galaxy this last week, I was horrified when I asked my faithful Droid assistant, Dr8ke, for any incoming messages, only to have him begin bellowing thick, black smoke and making sounds of alarm!

When I travel, I can end up anywhere, as I attempt to connect with as many planets across the Galaxy as I possibly can. At this time, I was in the Perave System. an area I am less familiar with.

My dear Dr8ke has been my right hand droid since I tool office and I would be lost without him. .. it. Unfortunately, I travel simply and with minimal staff, so I had no one on my personal ship who was equipped to maintenance poor Dr8ke! I was fretting, until my pilot mentioned that we were near Arkania. I agreed immediately to land there. At the same time, I sighed in resignation.

The Arkanian people are truly a wonder. And they know it.

Though humonoid, the Arkanian people have white eyes and clawed fingers, four of them on each hand. Most of them dress well and exude great dignity and sophistication. The Arkanian populace also are highly skilled in cybernetics and I hoped that they might have someone to hand who could repair Dr8ke.

As we landed, I bundled up, as the Arkanian land is usually freezing, covered in ice and snow - reminds me of Hoth, but less friendly. My security detail found an Arkanian repairman who agreed to see Dr8ke, if I came to HIM. This was not unexpected, so I went, despite my Guard's misgivings.

The Arkanian Repairman was named Luxe Arman and he sniffed when he saw Dr8ke and poked at him with one finger. "YOU are the Supreme Chancellor and . . THIS thing is the best they could offer you?"

I bristled, but tried to remain calm. It was never helpful to offend an Arkanian.

"Dr8ke is a good assistant and is sentimental to me. I would appreciate your lending your considerable talents to repairing him."

"Hmm. I could fix him in my sleep."

"AND awake?"

He watched me to make sure I wasn't mocking him - I wasn't really - just tryig to get my droid fixed!

"Come back in 2 hours."

I thanked him and left, returning to the warmth of my ship. I spent the time thanking my lucky stars that Master Myrmin was more amenable to work with than some of his fellow Arkanians.

Two hours on the nose, Dr8ke was returned, fixed and polished! I was so happy that I forgave any condesension on the spot!

We were on our way again and I almost didn't mind the exorbitant cost we were charged.

If you need repair work and have a lot of patience, consider Arkania. Bring a coat.
