Blog No.42
Everyone has a passion in life. Not just the whims and passing fancies that hit us every day, but a true, driving force (not THE Force) but a PASSION, that keeps us going forward!
For some people it is the striving to become the Best, the top of their field. Or the best of their Faction. For others, it is to become skilled in their jobs. An excellent baker, or a perfectly capable pilot. A crackshot with a blaster, or a lightsaber weilder, able to slice a single hair in half!
Some hone their abilities with the Force and others breed porgs and teach them to do tricks.
If you have known me a long time, you may remember that I have always sought with all my heart to provide new orphanages all across the Galaxy. As an orphan myself, I know what it can mean to try to survive in this amazing, yet rather harsh place we live in. There are smugglers and traders and criminals, not to mention creatures that would eat children if given the chance and extreme climates.
So you can imagine how enthralled I was when I stumbled upon some holos that spoke of the historical figure of Cade Skywalker.
A descendant of the famed Skywalker line, Caden Skywalker was abandoned as an infant and so began a loong and difficult journey that nearly ended with him turning to the Dark side - several times!
(No offense to those of you who have . .ahem.)
In a technical way, Caden Skywalker wasn't exactly an orphan. His parents were alive, just not with him. And eventually, that changed, too. Caden Skywalker was forced to face down terrible things and make hard decisions about himself, his life and the worlds he was on.
About what was really important to him and what he believed.
It made me think. If Caden Skywalker had only had an orphanage, a GOOD one, where there were caring people and a good foundation to help him early in life, perhaps it would have been easier for him. Not the parts where his uncle was killed and he was captured by the One Sith and all those things, but he would have at least have known that people cared for him from the start!
His parents could have left him at the Orphanage instead of just leaving him who knows where. THAT is what I want for the Galaxy! A place of safety for the children, in as many places as possible. So, like Caden Skywalker, our children can make wise, strong decisions, not simply react to what is happening.
I have never known what to call these Orphanages, but perhaps we could name them after Caden Skywalker himself! What do you think? It will take caring people to staff these places and give our children the care and protection that they need.
Hopefully, if we can get this going, it will also help to lower the crime rate of child crime crews that have been running rampant in many places, especially in Coruscant lately. I keep hoping!
Children do end up in the strangest places!
