"Who is George Lucas?"

There has been, on occasion, some question as to the vetting process of some of the people we have in positions of training and leadership.

I always brushed those off as being the usual complaints of  those who disagreed with those particular people.

But I must admit that I began to look around and notice that there MAY have been a point or two, as there were some people hired with some rather noticable criminal or questionable backgrounds.

Not they weren't doing a good job, but it made me wonder how they made it past the screening process.

I mean, a Cartel Leader who is running from the law WHILE teaching their class, half the time, a Piloting Master who apparently cannot pilot a ship, two Masters who have kidnapped me on seperate occasions, just to name a few!

I thought that it was Arrikzane who was hiring them behind my back, but I found out to my surprise that he thought that *I* was the one hiring them! So though we had both signed the paperwork to hire them, neither one of us had done the background work.

Who had?

I began to investigate.

It became clear pretty quickly that we have an entire department for this, but it was run by one man, a 'George Lucas.'
He wasn't in his office, but the records showed that he had been running the department since - well, as long as the department had been running, it seemed!

Strangely enough, though I kept going to his office for the next two weeks, at carying hours, I was never able to find him.
It was as though he had disappeared!

Finally, I ran across an errand droid who worked there and it informed me that 'Mr George Lucas had been away for months now!' Apparently he also helps to illustrate and publish accounts of our history. Not for the Holocron Hall, but for private collections.

The droid showed me some of the doodles and transcripts that this George Lucas kept in the office and - I was amazed at how detailed and colorful they were.

No wonder, our hiring had missed the screening process! George Lucas was utterly engrossed in this - very entertaining historical chronicling! I was conflicted. It wasn't what he'd been hired to do, but he was apparently very good at it! So I didn't want to fire him, either. But perhaps he should have a shift in his job description or something.

We could have a 'George Lucas' department for illustrations and storytelling! I don't know if the Emperor would go for that, but it had to be better than his current job!

I left a note on Geore Lucas' desk and decided to vet the future hires myself. At least until we get this worked out.

Of course, I should be glad of all this, as I myself am but a servant girl, turned farmgirl, who became Supreme Chancellor through rather mysterious circumstances. I have my own theories about that - but that is for another day.
