"The Andor Project"

Blog No.52

I received a distressing holo recently, regarding an experimental program that was supposedly run by a scientific and research branch of the Galactic Government 50 years ago or so.

At first, I was inclined to discount it, as many people like to blame it for everything under the sun, but as I continued to read, it became clear that this was something worth looking into and then - I found something.

So I would like to address the issue.
After sending to the Holocron Hall for some old files and searching in the archives here in the offices as well AND with double checks through the Scanners and Research department, I came across the records for the ANDOR Project.

Named after the legendary and posthumous Rogue One participant, Cassian Andor, it took three babies and had them raised in individually specific ways.

Each one was named Andor, with a number and thier lives were recorded and kept tabs on to see the effects that their upbringing had on them.

Andor 1 was told constantly about how they were named after the Original Andor, who Perished heroically. Over and over, he was reminded of how his namesake didn't make it, though the task he was sent to accomplish succeeded. But the main point was how he was doomed.

Andor 2 was mainly reminded about how he was named after a historic hero! And so he could succeed in anything, as the original Andor had won against impossible odds!

Andor 3 would only be told about how he was named, if asked, otherwise he had a perfectly normal childhood.

The results were interesting.

Andor 1 only lived to his 20th year, ending in a terrible ship-crash in mid-air.

Andor 2 did well in life, becoming a Captain in the security forces of his home planet and having saved many lives in heroic ways.

Andor 3 lived well enough, had a large family and was mainly obscure, running a small inn and raising turnips.

It was a small research project, but was ultimately shut down as people complained of how they 'played with the lives of un-consenting children!' and for my part, I could not find any signatures of Emperors and/or Chancellors approving the project.

It was very suspicious.

In the end, it was swept under the carpet. Some of the researches felt it led to obvious results, others said that it could have been a fluke and required MORE research and still others said that some of the process had been tampered with!

So my apologies go to the families of these Andors. (true, someone signed these poor children over to the project, but still)
It seems to me that this did not go through the proper channels and to no good purpose.

People can always surprise you and I know we all are grateful to the original Andor.

If you are asked to be part of a governmental research project - please be sure to request to see the proper documentation and seals, so that you know that it is truly official. If in doubt, send a check in to the nearest official or to the Emperor or myself directly!
