Do you have a favorite music station to listen to in the evenings or during the day?
I found that in my many journeys to and fro across the galaxy, I spend countless hours in my ship.
While it's an excellent time to catch up on my reports and data, and I spend even MORE time gripping the armrests in abject terror (don't like flying and space travel much) it would be a perfect time to listen to some music.
We didn't have much music, growing up on my adopted home planet of Tanaab. With all that farming, we just didn't have time. So I am unused to thinking about it, but I really do enjoy music.
Unsure of where to turn, I asked around and I kept hearing the same thing 'You've GOT to listen to Max Rebo's Remix Band!'
I had heard of Max Rebo, naturally, but now it seemed that someone had taken up the reins of that Musical Master's career and carried it on.
Were they also an Ortolan? Apparently so. No one knows who the new 'Max Rebo' really is, but he is definitely an Ortolan, as the original Max Rebo was. I think you must be, to play his instruments.
This band take his old classics and has 're-mixed' them, to make them more appealing to the modern audiences, I suppose.
I began to turn the station on during my long flights and I must admit - I do not know if they are good or not.
I suppose they could be good, but there's a lot of strange noises and effects in their 'Remix' and the Max Rebo people are really trying to be 'different'. They succeed!
It DID distract me from the flight, however, so that was good.
Did any of you have any old Max Rebo Band collections from when your parents or families were young?
I would love to compare the sound and see where they are different. Maybe then I could form a true opinion.
I have heard that Max Rebo (the original) had a lot of charm, and a will of steel - I can only assume that the new and improved Max Rebo has this, too, but who knows?
One of the ways that I believe that they differ, is that the old band had a singer on occasion, but Max himself did not sing.
But this new Max Rebo IS singing and he has a most - unusual - voice. Sort of screechy and yet nasel at the same time. In any case, it is very loud.
Is he a musical genius and innovator? Or is he a real dreamer who has gone boldly into the singing dream - but should not? Perhaps some musical tutoring would help?
I wouldn't know. I'm not a musical expert. Just some thoughts.
Max Rebo II and your Remix Band, if you're out there, thank you for helping me in these journeys of mine and I wish you all the best.
