Welcome back, citizens, to the Great Debate- an article where we will weigh two perspectives on an issue of interest. This is meant to spark a (civil) discussion among you and your peers, so feel free to leave your thoughts below. This month’s issue: Which is cuter, Porgs or Grogu?
Let’s start with the Porgs. From the first time we saw them, we were instantly swooning- and how could we not? These avian sea-dwellers have the biggest eyes. There’s just something about that blank stare, and you can’t help but smile. Their vague grasp on several languages also makes for some cute moments. One of their most endearing qualities could also serve against them: the Porgs are a hyper-curious creature. Often this can lead to some adorable interactions, but it can also make them persistent. Make sure not to leave your garbage open around these resourceful homemakers- you might just find yourself with a mess to clean up if you do. Also consider their diet and what they are surrounded by- as cute as they might look, their smell might be enough to drive you away.
Now onto Grogu. Now, this member of Yoda’s species immediately won our hearts with eyes to rival those of the Porgs and adorable mannerisms. Quickly earning the name ‘Baby Yoda’, Grogu feels and acts like a baby in many ways while also having a deep wisdom. And of course it has been fun watching our little guy start to develop a personality and form relationships by himself. However, with this development has also come an attitude. As funny as this is to witness, I’m sure it wears thin after a while, especially with his seemingly unbreaking resolve. With his growing grasp on the force, maybe we should be considering ourselves lucky that he has a Mandalorian to keep him in check. Plus, consider how other members of his species turned out. He might be cute now, but that’s unfortunately a temporary thing.
So which of these two iconic galactic cuties is cuter? Or do they perhaps balance each other out? That is up to you. I’ve provided you with some food for thought. I’d love to see some of your perspective in the comments! Remember, this is a civil debate- let’s be reasonable. I wouldn’t want to sick any guardians on you. Until next time, please don’t kill each other- I don’t need that on my hands.
